Solana Energy Alliance (SEA) electric generation rates are managed with the intention of providing cleaner electricity to its customers at competitive rates. Any changes to rates will be adopted at duly noticed public meetings of the Solana Beach City Council. Changes to San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) or SEA rates can impact cost comparisons between SEA and SDG&E.
SDG&E charges fees for delivering power to your home or business and for providing various customer services. SDG&E also charges SEA customers a Power Charge Indifference Adjustment (PCIA) and Franchise Fee Surcharge. SEA has accounted for these additional charges in calculating your rates. Please contact SDG&E at 1-800-411-7343 if you would like more information about their respective charges. Financial assistance programs such as CARE (California Alternative Rates for Energy), FERA (Federal Electric Rate Assistance) and Medical Baseline Allowance remain the same with SEA. If you are enrolled in any of these programs with SDG&E, these programs will continue to apply to you as a SDG&E customer. If you would more information on these programs, please contact SDG&E at 1-800-411-7343.
To view SEA rates and SDG&E cost comparisons, visit our Rates page on this website or call 858-720-4422. These rates and cost comparisons may change over time.
Each month, SEA customers will receive a single monthly bill from SDG&E that includes SEA electric generation charges. SEA’s electric generation charge replaces SDG&E’s electric generation charge and is not a duplicate charge or extra fee. If you opt out of SEA, SDG&E will resume charging you for electric generation.
Solana Energy Alliance (SEA) is the default electricity provider within the City of Solana Beach. Accounts within SEA’s service area are automatically enrolled in Solana Beach’s Choice program, our most cost-effective, 50% renewable/75% carbon free energy service. You may also choose to opt up to our SEA Green program, a service which provides 100% clean, renewable energy service at very competitive prices.
Account holders who wish to sign-up for the SEA Green 100% renewable energy program can call 858-720-4422 or visit www.SolanaEnergyAlliance.org. Please have your SDG&E account information on hand to process your request. Account holders may also request to opt out of SEA service at any time. However, you hereby acknowledge and agree that if you opt out of Solana Energy Alliance and return to SDG&E electric generation service any time after the 60-day post enrollment period, your electricity account(s) will be subject to SDG&E’s current terms and conditions of service
You may request to opt out of SEA without penalty at any time. If you opt out, you will still be charged for all SEA electricity used before the transfer of electric service. Accounts will be transferred on the day the electric meter is read and cannot be transferred during the middle of a billing cycle. In order for your request to be processed on your next meter read date, your request must be received at least 5 business days prior to the date on which the meter is read.
Please be advised that if you opt out of SEA and return to SDG&E service any time after the 60-day post enrollment period, SDG&E will charge a one-time account processing fee and restrict your return to SEA for 12 months. By opting out, you will also be subject to SDG&E’s current terms and conditions of service. For details on SDG&E’s rates or terms and conditions, please visit SDG&E.com. To opt out of SEA service, please call us at 858-720- 4422 or visit our website at www.SolanaEnergyAlliance.org. Please have your electric bill handy so that we can process your request.
Failure to pay
Solana Energy Alliance (SEA) reserves the right to transfer your account to SDG&E upon 14 calendar days’ written notice if you fail to pay any portion of the SEA charges on your bill. If your service is transferred, you may be subject to additional requirements by SDG&E.
